The Course

TPC Lousiana is a 2003 design by Pete Dye and has hosted a tour event annually since 2007. The course plays to a par of 72 from 7,520 yards. The course record was set at a ten-under par 62 back in 2014 by Ben Martin. TPC Lousiana is set amongst the wetlands of the Missippi River Delta and has taken steps to protect the environment that it resides and is a part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. Proving that even a PGA tour level golf course can operate as a nature reserve. The course's signature hole is the par-five, 18th. For its entire length water is in play on the right side.

The course is home to the tour's most famous alligator, tripod. The alligators typically stay in the water for most of the year, but for some reason, they are especially active on the land during the tournament according to the club.

The Super

The director of golf course maintenance operations at TPC Louisana is Brandon L. Reese who is in his second year at the course. His career has already taken him to a number of different TPC courses. He was previously the Super at TPC Scottsdale and TPC San Antonio. He earned a bachelor of science degree in Turfgrass Agronomy and Horticultural Science from Texas Tech. You can get a behind the scenes look at the work his crew is doing this week by following him on Twitter @Bradonleereese .

The Tournament

Another old ball this week as the Zurich Classic started all the way back in 1938.  The Zurich Classis though is ditching its traditional stroke-play format this week in favor of team play. It will be the tour's first team play event since 1981. The teams of two will play an alternate shot format on Thursday & Saturday and then a best-ball format on Friday and Saturday. The field includes seven of the world's top-ten players and in total there will be 80 teams or 160 players at the start of the week. The top 35 teams and ties will make the cut. The purse for this tournament is $7.2 million and both teammates will get a two-year tour exemption, something that Ian Poulter would love to get his hands on. The team format doesn't allow for OWGR credit and there will be no Masters' exemption awarded.

Some of the notable pairings include the texas duo of Ryan Palmer and Jordan Spieth. The European pairing of Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson. Former Players champions Jason Day and Rickie Fowler. Lastly, keeping it in the family brothers Brooks and Chase Koepka will tee it up together.

The Favorites

Zurich regulars and tour stars Jason Day and Rickie Fowler are definitely a good pick to win this week. Day looked decent at the Masters', his most recent start, which came only a two weeks after his emotional withdraw from Austin. Fowler who faltered outside of contention at the Master's should be refreshed after #SB2K17 as he looks to ahead to a busy summer. The duo will open at +600.

Team Japan in the form of Hideki Matsuyama and Hideto Tanihara could be a good sleeper pick. The duo our both great ball strikers. Tanihara can be a great putter when he is one like he was during his run in Austin where he came in 4th. Matsuyama who already has two wins this year has struggled since Phoenix. Since then he missed the cut at the Genesis Open and has only had one top-20 when came in T11 at the Masters it will be interesting to see what this team can do at +2,200.

Notables: Rose/Stenson +600 | Spieth/Palmer +1,000 | Berger/Pieters +1,400 | Grace/Oosthuizen +1,400 | K. Chappell/Woodland +2,500 | Koepka/Koepka +6,600 | Ogilvy/Poulter +8,000 | DeChambeau/Sabbatini +15,000

Also how about that second pick last week of Kevin Chappell I hope some of you got in on that +2,200 action.
